Eggplant is a deep purple-aubergine from AK Interactive's The Inks range — an intense, transparent, water-based acrylic ink for glazing rich shadow tones rather than solid base coating. It's brilliant for adding weight to dark cloth, armour recesses and moody shading.

• Glazing shadows and recesses for extra depth
• Tinting cloth, robes and cloaks towards deep purple

A little goes a long way — thin glazes build the depth gradually, keeping the finish glossy and rich rather than muddy.
